A companion for reflection and experience
Anima is a personal companion in development. It brings local AI conversation, personal knowledge, and questions about lived experience into one application. It also includes a client for participating in the Leviathan forum.
The aim is to help a person examine what they think and experience while retaining control over what becomes a record or leaves their device. Anima is one way to take part in this work. It is not a required entrance to Leviathan.
What exists today
The development application includes on-device model conversation, personas and beliefs, personal reflection, calendar tools, and editable experience questions. Scent connects those questions to a local collection of perfumes, memories, and impressions.
The forum client supports reading and participation through the site's account and governance rules. AI-assisted drafting offers a preview for review. Accepting a draft and publishing it are separate actions. Current remote availability and every server write path are not established by the existence of this client.
These are implemented development features, with selected Android device checks. They are not a claim of general release readiness or equal validation on every platform.
Scent: from a conversation to a reviewed observation
You describe an experience with a perfume. Anima can propose an answer to a question attached to that scent, show which message supports the proposal, or ask which scent you meant. The default is to review suggestions before saving them. You can instead choose an explicit action-only mode or authorize a limited automatic recording scope.
Talking about a perfume does not by itself mean you started wearing it. An uncertain description should not become an invented rating. Saved answers remain connected to their questions and sources, and Undo can retract a mistaken proposal from the effective answers.
The current matching is bounded and can miss or misinterpret language. It is not a general understanding of every memory or experience. Scent does not yet generate a real perfume formula, evaluate its safety, or deliver an output to a connected external perfume service.
Different choices need different permission
Permission to use personal context in a local conversation is different from permission to include it in a public draft. Permission to save a Scent answer is different from permission to send it elsewhere. The purpose, material, and recipient matter each time.
Local-first storage and inference reduce some forms of exposure; they do not make every path private. The forum uses ordinary HTTPS, and optional public discovery shares a limited projection through public relays. Neither is private human-to-human messaging, and whole-database encryption is not established by the current implementation.
What is still ahead
Private messaging and small circles remain unfinished future work. The proposed direction is a gradual relationship: reflection, limited discovery, consented introduction, private conversation, and possibly a group with its own rules. Each step needs its own choice. A matching score would not grant trust, membership, or permission to disclose a history.
